NYSUT Catastrophe Major Medical Plan

As you may be aware, the Catastrophe Major Medical (CMM) Plan offered through New York State United Teachers (NYSUT) has been closed to new participants since July 2011. On January 1, 2014, theCMM Plan became self-insured and sponsored by the NYSUT Member Benefits Trust.

Now, the Trustees of the NYSUT Member Benefits CMM Insurance Trust are pleased to announce a limited-time, 45-day open enrollment opportunity from May 1, 2017 through June 15, 2017. Enrollments will be accepted without medical qualification.

NYSUT members residing in New York State are eligible to participate in this NYSUT plan, but should be aware that the new plan is significantly different from the Welfare Fund CMM plan (also closed to new enrollments), in terms of deductible, what claims may be covered, and the length of benefit period. For details, follow the link below to the NYSUT member benefits website.

This CMM plan has a $2,500 annual deductible. If your out-of-pocket drug or hospital expenses exceed $2,500 annually, you may be interested in learning more about this plan.

Current participants in the PSC-CUNY Welfare Fund CMM plan will see no changes in their plan or the servicing of their policies.

For information on enrolling in the new NYSUT CMM plan, go to the NYSUT Member Benefits Website.
